We'll look at the Souweine combo, including the architect, including the Architect, Bill Rawn.  We'll also consider why Judith gets along so much better with the carpenters--to the point of participating in the carpentry herself? Is there something about Jonathan vis a vis Jim Locke's father which makes the relationship between Jonathan and Jim particularly tense?  What do you think?
Bill Rawn (left) and  Jonathan Souweine (right).  Both of them much older than they were at the time Kidder wrote the book.  Jonathan passed away in 2009.  Click on his image to see what his friends thought abot him. William Rawn went on to bigger and (maybe) better things in archjitecture, wiith his firm.  Click on his image to see what kind of things he involved himself in.
The House still remains in the Souweine Family,  Though I believe they no longer live in the house now.  You can rent it for only 850.00 per night.  Click on it to take a walk through the rooms to seen what you would get. It holds ten, so if you bring 9 friends it will only cost each $85.00 (plus cleaning fees).  In 1985 The Atlantic Monthly wrote a human interest article aboaut the Souweines.  You can read it by clicking on her photo, above..
This day we will also conduct the in-class survey.  I believe you have all received an e-mail with instructions on how to do this.  This will take about 15 minutes.  I you need further instructions, let me know, and I will see what I can do to help get ready during Monday's class.
